The Way of the Spirit

When the Veil is Taken Away

Biblical Theology and the Spirit-Filled Life

John McKay

Christian teaching should have the same purpose as Jesus’ and the apostles. He came that we might have life and the gospels were written to help us find it. Often, however, theological teaching misses this life-giving dimension, either destroying faith through rational, critical, negative approaches, or losing the life aspect through an approach that, while based on a foundation of faith, is nonetheless dry, arid and doctrinaire.

Spirit-filled teaching, on the other hand, must lift us into the life-flow of the Biblical drama and enable its power to run through our lives as we walk with the ancient men of God and above all with Jesus. Such teaching enables us to lay hold of their vision, their longings and their joys, so that they become ours as well. The Bible is the active, life giving Word of God.

This book outlines this approach, on which The Way of the Spirit Bible Reading Course is based, and explains the spiritual and theological journey that led to its development.
