It is in these days – closer than ever to ‘His appearing’ – that our faith is challenged and questioned as never before. Jesus told Peter that the enemy had asked to ‘sift him as wheat’. And so for us too a great sifting is going on: what do we really believe? What does the word really say?
Because His word is the only Truth we have and the only thing we can stand on in times of testing. And Jesus goes on to say: “but I have prayed for you that your faith should not fail” Luke 22.31
How reassuring it is that Jesus knows everything we are going through and that He ‘ always lives to make intercession for us and is able to save to the uttermost !’ Heb. 7.25
Paul tells us near the end of his life
“ I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing. 2 Ti 3 .7,8

and he urges Timothy and all of us today:
“Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life,to which you were also called .. 1Ti 6.12

The fight of faith is against all unbelief, standing on His word only, eyes fixed on Jesus, who is urging us on, waiting at the finishing line, at the end of the race, as our forerunner and who will finally welcome us and all those victorious overcomers.
