1 July 2008

I led the mission (Robert Clifford) and had a brilliant team of 2-Gail Halley and Ingrid Macmillan.

It was an amazingly fruitful time. Some had travelled up to 10 hours by bicycle or walking to get to the conferences. They came from as far as the capital Lusaka and from the far reaches of the Copper Belt areas. They were not disappointed by the Lord, could you EVER be. We went there on 8/8/8 and truly it was a new beginning for Zambia. The President died whilst we were there and so this is a critical time for Zambia, needing our prayers. It is a new chapter in the nation’s history.

Duwen Musaka left the UK 8 years ago and has put 20 folk through the Certificate course and 6 through the part time teacher’s course. The fruit of his ministry is clearly seen and the seeds sown will bear 100 fold. He has a vision now to translate the WOS into the Bemba language and will soon start to print WOS books in Kabwe. He has already had more ministry as he follows up what the Lord initiated in our time there and has since received another 800 Bibles to distribute and, as he says, this alongside the WOS will produce a great Holy Spirit fire.

I was blessed with the chance to meet up with Alinani Mulenga, who studied with Duwen at Lamplugh and he still has a strong vision for the work of the WOS.

A few testimonies

Ida testified that all her burdens had been lifted and she now felt light. She said she had been lukewarm but was now in revival. She gave her life back to the Lord.

Darius said that the Lord had touched him mightily and that he shared in the overflowing anointing of his wife Caroline (who had been ordained). He said that under this WOS anointing things were transformed including his marriage. He could see that things were happening and that the whole thing was prophetic.

Pastor Lester said he had met with God in His glory, majesty and power. His life was changed and God had spoken to him in his ordination that he was a mighty man of war and that God had promoted him

One elderly lady had received a Bible for the first time in her life.

For me one of the most powerful moments was when 19 were baptised in the Spirit one evening and spoke for the first time in tongues.

Many in the various conferences testified of lives and ministries transformed and for that \all the glory goes to the Lord who enabled all that took place by His AMAZING GRACE.

Thank you Jesus and thank you all who contributed in any way-prayer, finance, time. Amen.

Below you will find reports by Gail Halley and Duwen Musaka about the time we spent in Zambia.

Zambia Trip: 080808 - 210808

Pastor Robert Clifford (team leader); Ingrid Macmillan; Gail Halley

We landed at Lusaka at 6 30am on Saturday 9 August after a 10-hour flight and were met by our host, Pastor Duwen Musaka of Kingdom Life Tabernacle, Kabwe, with whom we formed at immediate bond, and whose delightful family were to become our home from home for the next 12 days. The drive to Kabwe took about two hours and, after a rest at the guesthouse where we would be sleeping, we were treated to a welcome dinner by members of the church; we quickly felt we were among friends.

The main purpose of the visit were the Way of the Spirit conferences from Mon 11th to Wed 13th (for leaders only) and Thurs 14th to Sun 17th (for everyone), arranged by Duwen, and at which Robert would be the main speaker. On the basis of ‘start as you mean to go on’, Robert challenged us all that first evening to see this conference as an opportunity to meet afresh with God and move on to a new place in Him. The response was warm and enthusiastic and at the church service the following morning – and indeed throughout the following week – there was a real building on what God had started. There was very little resistance: the people were hungry and responsive, and whether or not this was what they had been expecting, they entered into it with whole hearts and with an increasing freedom in the Spirit as the week went on.

Pastor Duwen had been steadily laying a foundation in the area since returning from a year at Lamplugh House in 2000-2001. He has trained and discipled a steady number of people through his ministry, and we clearly saw the fruit of this in several of those who were present. The afternoons were taken up with WotS groups: for some this was something very new and different, and at times it felt as if we were wading through treacle, as everyone was encouraged to seek and share revelation from God for themselves; some had to be encouraged to step out while others were quietly dissuaded from turning it into an opportunity to preach to a captive audience. Inevitably some caught it more quickly than others, but overall we watched people grow in their desire to know God better and share the revelation they had received.

The conference included a wonderfully joyful graduation ceremony with much dancing, singing, testimonies and hugging by 10 brightly robed graduands; and the next day included an ordination where we saw four strong, serious, joy-filled people stepping gladly into a new level of ministry. We loved these people; their receptiveness to us was truly humbling and we were sad to say goodbye to them at the end of the conferences. We also enjoyed the motel where the conferences were held, a crumbling relic of colonialism where Kenneth Kaunda used to stay in its heyday, but where now power, sanitation and running water were charmingly hit-and-miss.

We were disappointed not to have got into the prison where Ingrid and Robert already had contacts, though we met the chaplain and left some gifts. On the penultimate day, we visited a true African village in the back of beyond, where a day’s conference had been planned by their pastor, Tuesday Tiola (yes, that really was his name; we met a Friday too, but surprisingly no Sundays). When the Toyota minibus, after bumping along miles of impossibly rutted, narrow tracks, finally lurched into the village we saw a young lad clutching a large, noisy cockerel which later turned out to be lunch.

The happy team who went to the village

We felt very much that God had hand-picked this village. Again, the people were warm and receptive, and they warmed to the word as the day went on. We were constantly amazed at the quiet courtesy of even the very young children who seemed transfixed by these strangers in their midst. On the way back, the minibus got stuck in the sand; we all got out and the men pushed it back to life (when it comes to gallantry, Africa is generally more advanced than the UK!).

On the last day, Ingrid and Gail joined the women’s fellowship meeting led by Julia, Duwen’s wife. It was an incredible privilege to have a glimpse into lives which have so many pressures and struggles, and to see how humbly and sincerely they want to grow strong in God and bring their families up accordingly. In fact, perhaps what made the greatest impact on us was the realisation by many of these lovely people that despite the many physical restrictions in their lives, they want more and more to embrace God Who is so much bigger than the limitations of their circumstances, and allow Him to work in and through them to affect their families and communities.

We loved our times with Duwen and Julia and their children, Joshua (16), Waini (14), Beloved (12) and Musalwe – which means Chosen – (4), as well as two new puppies who we named for them – Benjie and Jo-Jo. They gave us local food, generously adapted for our delicate western palates, and allowed us to share their lives in a way which we believe started something which will reach into the future. It was with real sadness that we waved goodbye to Duwen at Lusaka Airport early on Thursday morning and set out on our homeward journey.

Dear Beloved,

Greetings to you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. May the grace of our Lord be with you all. I am giving you a brief report on the Zambia Mission August 2008. A detailed one will follow after all that is being awaited for comes in.

Much prayer was offered and preparations were done for the mission. We thank God that we did what we could, and the rest we left it all to the Lord Himself.

Finally, on a wonderful chilly Saturday morning of 9th August 2008, the small team of 3 members from The Way of the Spirit, UK lead by Pastor Robert Clifford touched the land of Zambia. It was such a joyous moment for all of us to meet. God had a special mission for the trio and the Zambian team. We then travelled to Kabwe by road to be welcomed by my wife Julia and some leaders from the church at our residence.

The mission kick off in the UK on 08/08/08, the number 8 has something to do with new beginnings, flourishing and overflowing. The Lord had been speaking to us at the close of 2007 about overflowing. The team brought a word of confirmation when we met in our house and later during the welcome dinner. We thank God for this.

During Sunday Church service, Pastor Robert laid a foundation upon which the rest of the week was to stand. The Word was so challenging and edifying. Many people who were present were touched by the Lord. The Lord visited the house that morning. When an altar call was made 3/4 of the fellowship responded to the call for prayers. This included the young one in the meeting. A transformation took place in many lives.

After church, the team was visiting my family. This was the beginning of my desire being fulfilled. It had been my desire to sow into Kingdom Faith Church, Cornerstone Church and WOTS, UK. Little did I know that this was the time the Lord had given to me and my family. We provided meals for our guests for several days including their last dinner. This was not the prior arrangement by the ministry here. I think this was the Lord's. One morning when I opened my Bible to read, it was on Acts 11:29. The Lord said, that's it, you giving to KFC, CC and WOTS, UK.

The Leaders conference was so blessed of the Lord. 54 people attended the conference. Out of this, 27 were pastors from different churches in and outside Kabwe. This group included students of The Way of the Spirit. The Lord ministered to these men and women of God. Each one has a testimony of how the Lord dealt with him/her during this conference. The cry has been when is another conference of that nature? When are these people coming back to Kabwe? There is such a great hunger for the Word than before. Packages of Bibles were given to all the participants to take back to their churches.

The conference for believers was also another wonderful time for all who attended, and for those who never came in. Because others missed and are now wishing they attended. This was the first time we held large meetings for WOTS. There is a transformation in many homes and churches as a result of the conference. There are testimonies of family altars having been started after the conference, a desire to read the Word of God from many quarters including pastors and church leaders. We thank God for this wonderful work going on in the lives of people.

The second conference was attended by 19 pastors, and people came from 42 different churches. What a blessing for a big of churches coming together!!!! We distributed Bibles in Bemba and English to all who were in need.

There was also a graduation for our students which was officiated by Pastor Robert Clifford. 10 students were graduating, 3 got diplomas in Part Time Prophetic Teachers Course and 7 got Biblical and Prophetic Faith Certificates. It was colourful and added value to what they had been doing during that week. On the Sunday, we had ordinations for our 3 ministers and 1 for one of our students. This was challenging for many folk still decided to serve the Lord in full time ministry.

A trip to the village church was another of its kind. We went to Kambwili which is the first village church we planted when I just returned from Kingdom Faith College, Lamplugh House. The Lord continued to transform lives and bless His people.

Ladies had a wonderful time they met for their fellowship Ingrid and Gail had the opportunity to minister to their fellow ladies. This was deep that the women folk are ever talking about the wonderful time they enjoyed together as sisters in the Lord.

This has been a fruitful for the ministry in this nation. These have never the same ever since. We are seeing results, more results which are directly connected to the mission. We are moving forward in the service of the Lord. There is a revival going on and I travelled to North-western Province on 12 September 2008 for a conference which was as a result of the mission. This is the beginning of several meetings coming ahead of us which will result into another major move next year in this nation God willing.

O we thank God for your prayers and financial support for the Zambia Mission 8-21 August 2008. I cannot fail to mention of The Upper Room Church - UK, WOTS, Kingdom Faith, Cornerstone Church and the Verners, You were directly involved in this mission. We are so thankful to God for all that you did for the mission to be fulfilled. May the God Lord bless you.

We remain praying for you. With love, Duwen & Julia Musaka, Pastor/Teacher
