The Completed Work of Christ on the CrossJohn McKay
When Jesus died his saving work was complete. Nothing needed to be added to finish it. All that is now required is for us to accept it in faith and enjoy the good of it.
Sadly there are those who would persuade us otherwise, arguing that Jesus had to finish his work later, in the tomb, during his resurrection days, after his ascension, or even yet today. Others say it is only made effective by our actions and attitudes, or that its completion depends on the working of the Holy Spirit through various personal experiences. Such teachings give many Christians an uncertainty about their salvation or a judgmental attitude that questions the salvation of others.
The cross needs nothing to complete its saving work. Of course Jesus has remained active since then, and of course our response of faith is required, but only as outworking of what he already accomplished in his death.
This four-week course retraces the events of the crucifixion to show how fully Jesus' saving work was indeed completed in them.
